YORKTON — The Godfrey Dean Art Gallery is inviting local artists to submit their work for the annual Member's Show, running from June 7 to July 5.

"In order to participate, you need to be a member of the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery—it does help support the arts and it helps support any of the activities that we do year-round at the gallery," said Kelly Litzenberger, Manager at the GDAG.

The show, previously called the Local Artist's Show, is open to individuals within a 100-kilometre radius of Yorkton who have ties to the community.

"Anybody in the local area—within a 100-kilometre radius—that has ties to Yorkton can submit up to five pieces of artwork whether they are painting, sculptural or any sort of craft, we welcome all artistic submissions," said Litzenberger.

Litzenberger said gallery membership costs $20 for students and $30 for individuals, and noted that the gallery accepts donations beyond that.

"Whether you're a multimedia artist or traditional artist, we will definitely try and accommodate any sort of different mediums here at the gallery," said Litzenberger.

Participation is open to all skill levels.

"Whether you're a first-time artist or longtime artist, everyone is welcome—any skill levels," said Litzenberger, emphasizing there are "no other barriers aside from the membership."

Artists must submit new work, with exceptions for first-time participants.

"If you've put any artwork in past exhibitions, that does not qualify for the Member's Show. We do like to see some new artwork, but if it's your first time participating, it can definitely be older artwork," said Litzenberger.

Registration and collection of artworks will take place from May 26 to 31, after the current exhibition has closed.

"In past exhibitions for this show, we've had between 35 to 55 people participate. That means we'll have 150 to 200 pieces of artwork," said Litzenberger.
