Helen Norys
(January 17, 1929- May 6", 2025) 96 years of age
Helen was born in 1929 to loving and supportive parents Dymetro and Mary Gregor. She was the youngest of three children. Born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK, she attended Westmount School for grades 1-8 and completed high school at the Convent of Sion GRXII.
Helen pursued training to become a registered nurse in 1947 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, SK, graduating in 1950. She enjoyed being a nurse and had many interesting experiences over her career working at the Moose Jaw General Hospital, Iater called the Union Hospital, Providence Hospital, the Moose Jaw Clinic and finally at St. Anthony's Care Home, now called Chateau St. Micheal, which has been her residence for the last few years.
Peter and Helen grew up across the alley from each other and were married in 1956. They built their home on Keith Cres overlooking the valley which they enjoyed. Helen and Peter celebrated over 65 years of marriage.
A strong faith and the Church were both very important to both Helen and Peter and they attended and supported Church of Our Lady for many years.
Predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Mary and Dymetro, brother John, sister and brother-in-law Eilen and Steve Buga, nephew Kenneth Buga, Peters Parents and Brother Jim Norys. Helen is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughn St Moose Jaw on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Father Nestor Gregoire presiding. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.
A deep heart felt thank you to the caring staff at Chateau St. Micheal who have cared for Helen in these last years.
