SASKATOON - A man has been arrested after allegedly pulling a gun and refusing to pay for a taxi.
On May 17 at around 9:30 p.m., police responded to the report of a man who had been dropped off by taxi in the 3500 block of 8th Street East. The report indicated the suspect had refused to pay the fare and when confronted had pulled a handgun out of a bag. The suspect fled the area and was observed entering a nearby yard in the 100 block of Leland Terrance.
The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Canine Unit attended the scene and were able to advise that the suspect had entered the residence and not left. It was not believed the suspect lived at the address, and at 9:45 p.m., SPS Patrol officers were able to safely arrest him inside the home without further incident. Upon further investigation, a replica C02 handgun was recovered.
A 29-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and fraudulently obtaining transportation.
