CANORA - Canora athletes earned many top-ten finishes during a successful meet at track-and-field Pre-Districts in Yorkton on May 14, including four quadruple-gold medal winners.
Peewee boys
Karter Shukin won four events: the 100m in 14.1 seconds, the 800m (2:52.66), the 1500m (6:23.81) and the long jump with a leap of 3.85m.
Drew Kitchen placed second in the 100m (14.41s), first in the 200m (31.16s) and second in the long jump (3.66m).
Camryn Burym finished second in the 200m (36.82s).
Ethan Chabun competed in the discus.
Pewee girls
Courtlyn Heshka finished first in four events: the 100m with a time of 13.5 seconds, the 200m (28.97s), the 400 (1:14.12) and the long jump (4.06m).
Rachel Mentanko placed third in the 100m (14.38s) and second in the 200m (32.22s).
Angel Sleeva was first in the 800m in three minutes and 9.41 seconds, and also won the 1500m (6:34.22).
Kenzee Kopelchuk finished first in the triple jump (7.87m), first in the high jump (1.36m), second in the long jump (3.87m), and third in the shot put (6.77m).
Hannah Dutchak finished third in the 200m (33.78s) and also competed in the long jump, the triple jump, and the 100m.
Talia Collingridge competed in the long jump, the shot put and the 100m.
Bantam Boys
Kasen Heshka won four gold medals: the 100m in a time of 12.5 seconds, the 200m (28.3s), the 400m (1:05.12) and the hurdles (15s).
Reid Kitchen placed second in the 1500m in 6:51.56, second in the 3000m (15:55), and also competed in the discus.
Bantam girls
Madison Dutchak won four races: the 200m in 30.18 seconds, the 400m (1:14.69), the 1500m (7:20.6) and in the 3000 (17:01).
Tessa Prychak won the shot put with a throw of 7.46m and also competed in the discus.
Claire Ruf placed second in the hurdles (18:22), second in the long jump (3.6m), and second in the triple jump (6.73m).
Intermediate boys
Jackson Palagian won the 100m in 12.07 sec, the 200m (25.75s), the shot put (9.95m) and finished third in discus (25.86m).
William Sliva won the 1500m in six minutes, 49.12 seconds, the 3000m (16:50) and the hurdles (19.1s).
Intermediate girls
Danielle Dutchak placed second in the 200m at 14.16 seconds, second in the hurdles (15.04s), third in the long jump (4.14m) and third in triple jump (8.05m).
Isabelle Chabun won the shot put (9.02m) and the discus (24.24m), and also competed in the long jump,
Maddy Dutchak was second in the shot put (8.05m), second in the discus (23.96m), and competed in the triple jump and the javelin.
Junior girls
River Crane placed third in the long jump by clearing 2.7m, and competed in the discus and the javelin. Della Salikin competed in the long jump and the shot put. Heidi Mentanko competed in the triple jump and the shot put.
Senior boys
Andrew Sliva won three races: the 100m in 12.94 seconds, the 200m (26.94s) and the 1500m (5:59.56).
Jordan Makowsky placed a close second in the 100m (13.03s), finished third in javelin (33m) and also competed in the shot put and the discus.
Matthew Makowsky took the gold medal in high jump by clearing 1.56m and also won the discus (36.77m), placed second in the shot put (10.3m) and competed in the javelin.
Noah Prychak was second in the discus (30.57m) and third in the shot put (10.16m).
