Buchanan Wildlife awards highlight successful hunters & anglers

Kasen Heshka was the winner in junior non-typical white-tailed deer.

BUCHANAN - The Buchanan branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation held its annual awards night on May 3 at the Buchanan Community Centre.

President John Teslia reported that, after cocktails and “a great supper,” Conservation Officer Nathan Dutchak gave a presentation on wildlife and hunting-related topics. Glen Teslia, vice-president, presented the awards.

Big Game

Aubrie Monette was the winner for junior girl’s typical white-tailed deer, and Maisie Kuzminski won for junior girls northern pike,

In junior boy’s typical white-tailed deer, the winner was Noah Prychak. Kasen Heshka was tops in junior non-typical white-tailed deer.

John Teslia won awards for men’s typical mule deer and men’s northern pike

Fish

Eden McGregor took home the award for junior walleye.

Brittany McGregor was the winner for ladies walleye and northern pike.

The men’s walleye award went to Brett McGregor.

Photography

Maisie Kuzminski was a double winner for junior scenic and wildlife photography.

Jerri Kuzminski was the adult wildlife photography winner.

A silent auction and 50/50 was held during the evening.

The Buchanan branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation has approximately 130 members, and 80 were present for the banquet and awards.
