REGINA — The Regina Police Service is conducting a joint training exercise Wednesday involving its Aerial Support Unit and Canine Unit.

The day-long session, which is not open to the public or media, is aimed at improving co-ordination between air and ground teams through realistic scenarios that enhance public safety response.

Training began at 10 a.m., with the first simulation scheduled for 1 p.m. and activities expected to wrap up by 7 p.m.

Residents in several neighbourhoods — including Lakewood, Eastview (1200 block of Elliot), the area around First Avenue North and Winnipeg Street, and near Fleet and Ross Avenue — may notice a heightened police presence and hear sirens during the afternoon.

Police emphasized that the activities are part of routine training and there is no cause for concern.

PPS thanked the public for understanding and support as they carry out the important training.
