U of R spring 2025 convocation to recognize four honorary degree recipients

The four recipients will be the Honourable Russ Mirasty, Dr. Jim Tomkins, Dr. Lillian Eva Quan Dyck, and Don Hall.

The U of R's Spring Convocation ceremonies will be held from June 11th to June 13th.

REGINA — Four individuals will be awarded an honorary degree at the University of Regina (U of R) spring convocation.

The honorary degree is the highest honour the school can bestow on a person and is given to those who have made significant contributions to a field, province, etc.

The four recipients will be Honourable Russ Mirasty, Dr. Jim Tomkins, Dr. Lillian Eva Quan Dyck, and Don Hall.

Mirasty, who was Sask. first Indigenous Lieutenant Governor, will be presented with the Doctor of Laws honoris causa.

Meanwhile, Tomkins will also be bestowed with the Honorary Doctor of Laws honoris causa (LLD) for his over five decades of contributions to the university.

As for Dyck, she will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science honoris causa. Dyck was the first female Indigenous senator who campaigned for Indigenous and women's rights throughout her career.

Lastly, Don Hall, a former photographer with the U of R, is receiving the  Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts honoris causa for capturing the spirit, history, and people of the campus for over four decades.

The recipients will receive the honorary degrees from June 11 to June 13 at the U of R.
